Care Instructions
Each Udiri piece carries a story — of materials reclaimed, hands that crafted it, and moments you make your own. Honour its journey by treating it gently and thoughtfully. These guidelines will help your jewellery and objects last.
Caring for your Udiri pieces ensures their stories endure — thank you for honouring the hands and materials behind them.
Paper & Brass Care
Udiri’s signature paper beads and brass components are durable yet delicate. Treat them with mindfulness:
- Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth after each wear to remove oils and moisture.
- Avoid soaking paper beads in water. If they become dirty, dab with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
- For brass elements, use a gentle jewellery polishing cloth; skip harsh cleaners that can strip protective coatings.
Gemstone & Pearl Pieces
Pieces combining paper beads with natural gemstones or pearls require special handling:
- Do not submerge the entire piece in water. Instead, dip a cotton swab in mild dish soap and water, wipe the stone or pearl gently, then dry.
- Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steamers; they can damage both the paper and organic gems.
- Store gemstone jewellery separately in the provided burlap pouch to prevent scratches.
What to Avoid
To preserve the integrity of your jewellery, avoid exposing it to the following:
- Harsh chemicals and cleaning agents such as bleach, chlorine, alcohol, turpentine, acetone and ammonia — these can dull or pit metals and damage paper and stones.
- Tomato sauce, lemon juice or other acidic kitchen cleaners; although they may make metals shine temporarily, they strip protective coatings.
- Prolonged contact with lotions, perfumes, hairspray or chlorine water. Apply beauty products first and let them dry before wearing your pieces.
Storage & Wear
- Always store your Udiri pieces separately to prevent scratching. Use the burlap pouch provided or a lined jewellery box.
- Keep jewellery in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and tarnish.
- Remove jewellery before swimming, exercising, or sleeping to avoid unnecessary stress and moisture exposure.
